Introducing the Founder
Embarking on her yoga journey in 2000, Nilajah Johnson found her path under the guidance of Grand Master Yogi Kwesi Karamoko, the visionary behind the Ausarian Tantra Yoga Institute in Detroit, Michigan. Following rigorous training, she earned her certification as a Kemetic Tantra Yoga Instructor in 2007. From there, she swiftly transitioned into the role of instructor and guest speaker across the expansive metro Detroit area.
In 2011, a profound calling led Nilajah towards the spiritual depths of "yoga beyond the mat." She immersed herself in various yogic traditions, including the Vedic Philosophy of India, Tibetan Yoga, and Buddhism, alongside the ancient languages of Sanskrit and Hieroglyphics. Under the mentorship of Dr. Schavi Aliโher Root Guru, Acharya, Linguist, and Historian of Ancient Civilizationsโshe attained the pinnacle as Guru of Sanatana Dharma.
Today, Nilajah Johnson, a devoted wife and mother of four, stands as a beacon of yogic scholarship and the driving force behind the Detroit Yoga Institute, the city's premier black-owned establishment for advanced yogic studies. Through her unwavering commitment and tireless effort, she has not only become an esteemed instructor but also a genuine source of inspiration for her students.
